Ice creams are one of my favourite desserts so for me it’s difficult to say no to Ice creams. I can’t stay away from Ice creams for very long so I try to find occasions to prepare delicious, creamy and soft Ice cream recipes at home. If you are also an Ice Cream lover like me then you must try this Paan Ice Cream (aka Betel Leaf).
This Betel flavoured Ice Cream turns out very outstanding. Taste and flavour of this Paan Ice Cream is very refreshing. We just have to use right ingredients to make Ice Cream a refreshing Dessert.
If you like to eat Paan or Betel Leaf in other forms, then you would definitely love this Paan or Betel Leaf Ice Cream too.
With very basic ingredients we can prepare a lot of Ice cream recipes at home just in 10 to 15 minutes. Though it may take some additional time for few types of Ice creams but definitely not for all.
What is used in ready made Ice creams?
Making Ice creams at home is not difficult at all. It’s very easy to prepare soft Ice cream recipes at home. And we don’t need any CMC or GMS powders to make Ice cream soft. CMC and GMS powders are generally used to prepare readymade Ice creams.
GMS is a short form for Glycerol monostearate which is used in readymade ice creams. It is a food additive used for thickening, emulsifying and as a preservative. And CMC is short form of Carboxy methyl cellulose. CMC are compounds used for stabilising ice creams available in markets. But we don’t need Ice creams to be preserved for longer when we can enjoy freshly prepared Ice creams at home.
What I have used in this Paan Ice Cream recipe?
I have used readymade condensed milk to prepare this Betel Leaf Ice Cream or Betel flavoured Ice Cream. But I do also prepare condensed milk at home most of the times. I have earlier shared recipe of Condensed Milk which you can prepare at home very easily. Paan Ice Cream – A true treat for Ice Cream Lovers
Paan (Pan) Ice Cream turns out really outstanding. Taste and flavour of a Paan Ice Cream or Betel Leaf Ice Cream is very refreshing. We just have to use right ingredients to make Ice Cream a refreshing Dessert.
Ingredients for Paan Ice Cream
Cooking method for Paan or Betel Flavoured Ice Cream
Wash betel leaves well and remove edges of betel leaves.
Add below ingredients to a grinding jar. Break paan or betel leaf into pieces and then add (makes easy to grind) -
- Fennel Seeds
- Cardamom Powder
- Betel Leaves
Grind all ingredients to a coarse texture (if needed, add 1/2 tbsp water while grinding).
Add whipping cream to a mixing bowl and whisk with electric whisker on low setting about a minute. We just want to mix it.Don't whisk on high speed for long, otherwise it will turn into Makkhan (Butter), which we don't want. You can also use a manual whisker.
Once cream is whisked, add condensed milk, tutti fruitti, pan masala and give it a mix.
And the last ingredient which goes here is green food liquid colour and then mix well.You can also use few pinches of powdered colour. Don't add too much of colour to the Ice Cream otherwise Paan Ice Cream turns out to be very dark coloured and doesn't look good.
Transfer the paan ice cream mixture to a container and add some tutti fruitti on top for decoration.
Now take a piece of silver foil and cover ice cream from top side. So, no ice crystals will be formed in the Ice Cream.Later refrigerate this Paan Ice Cream for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.You can also you use milk plastic wraps to cover ice Cream.
Finally when Paan or Betel Leaf Ice Cream is well set, you can scoop out the ice cream.
- To scoop out Ice cream easily, dip spoon in the water which makes it easy to take out Ice Cream.
- Or you can cover inside of container entirely with some food safe wrapping paper (silver foil / plastic bags) and then pour ice cream mixture.
- Wrapping paper allows to demould ice cream easily and you then can cut it into pieces instead of scooping out ice cream.
Serve Paan Ice Cream in a refreshing way.
- Sprinkle few Tutti Fruitti
- And edible coloured fennel seeds on top
