Peas Coconut Masala is a very simple recipe to cook but yet it is a super tasty gravy or curry recipe. This Matar Masala or peas coconut masala is a perfect blend of South Indian and North Indian recipe taste because of the combination of ingredients used in this recipe.

Peas are good source of protein and contain low amount of fats, high amount of fibre and no cholesterol. Coconut, likewise, is also very nutritious as it contains fibre, vitamin C and E and plenty of other vitamins. Peas and coconut together in a recipe is a great combination. So this Peas Coconut Masala or Matar Masala recipe is packed with full of health benefits.

Peas Coconut Masala

This coconut matar masala recipe was a random thought as no other veggies were left out in my fridge. So I prepared this coconut Peas Masala using some leftover items which turned out really well and importantly as a healthy option which many of us look for.

I have used simple ingredients which are generally available almost always in our kitchen. I did not use red chilli powder for this recipe and used green chilies instead, because I wanted to maintain the green colour of the peas. I also used coriander and some cashews to prepare gravy masala to maintain its green look.

And, importantly, I have used very less oil (just a tablespoon) for this Peas Coconut Masala recipe which makes it “almost” an oil free recipe. Most of the recipes contain ghee, malai, cheese, paneer etc., I haven’t used ghee or any malai (cream) while preparing this peas masala gravy because I wanted this recipe to be a Vegan friendly recipe. So cook this Peas Masala or Matar masala recipe at home and you are going to love this, specially if you are a fitness lover or looking for vegan recipe options.
