Potato Cheese Bread Roll

Cheese Potato Bread Roll Recipe is very tasty and a must try recipe for snacks. Combination of cheese, potato, bread and few spices gives this recipe a delicious taste.

Potato Cheese Bread Roll is a good party time snack/evening recipe or as a starter before the main course. Here in this recipe, I have used potato and cheese as stuffing. However, stuffing can vary and you can use vegetables of your choices peas, carrots, beans and even paneer too for stuffing.

Preferred bread is white sandwich bread for any Bread Roll. To give an oval shape for potato bread rolls, I have dipped Bread slices into water and squeezed out excess water from the Bread Slice with the help of my palms.

Any variety of bread rolls should be served hot to enjoy the crispiness as Bread Rolls turns soggy once cooled. Cheese Potato Bread Roll can be served with Tomato Ketchup, mayonnaise or mint green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney.

Ingredients for Stuffed Cheese Potato Bread Roll Recipe
  • 200 grams Potato (2-3 medium sized potatoes)
  • 2 tablespoons Oil (For stuffing)
  • 1/4 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger and Garlic (Grated)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Green Chilli (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander (finely chopped)
  • 60 grams Processed Cheese (grated)
  • 10 Bread Slices
  • Water (some to dip bread slices)
Cooking method for Stuffed Cheese Potato Bread Roll Recipe
    Here are the steps how to prepare Stuffed Cheese Potato Bread Roll or Potato Bread Roll recipe.
  1. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Pressure cook 2 to 3 medium sized potatoes for 4 whistles and allow them to cool. Once turned to normal temperature, peel and mash.

  2. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Add cooking oil to the pan. Once heated, add following spices/masalas one after another - turmeric powder, grated ginger and garlic. Saute ginger and garlic for a minute.

    Grated or crushed ginger and garlic enhances the recipe taste compared to ready made ginger and garlic paste.

    Now add remaining ingredients - finely chopped chilies, garam masala, dry mango powder and stir fry all spices for a minute.

  4. Add mashed potatoes to the spices, mix well.

  5. Add salt and mix well again. Allow the mixture to cool down completely which takes few minutes.

    Once the mixture is cooled down, add finely chopped green coriander to it and mix well.

  7. Furthermore at this stage, we start making potato and cheese rolls. Apply some oil on your palms so that the mixture does not stick to the palms.

    Take some amount of potato mixture to make medium balls and flatten it, place cheese and make oval rolls. Make rolls of all stuffing in similar way. You can have the potato cheese stuffed rolls of any shape. I made it oval like this.

    Now take white bread slices as required and cut the sides.

  10. Take some water in a bowl to dip the bread slices. Dip the bread slice in water just for few seconds.

    Be very carefully while dipping bread in water. Do not keep the bread slice in water for a long time as it will break.

    Squeeze out all the excess water from bread slice with both the hands.

    If not squeezed completely, bread rolls absorb more oil while deep frying.
  12. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Place roll of potato cheese stuffing on the bread slice and wrap the bread over stuffing. With the help of both the hands give oval/cylindrical shape to the roll.

  13. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Make sure to do this carefully and cover all the stuffing with bread slice otherwise again it can absorb excess oil.

  14. Heat some oil in a pan for deep frying bread rolls.

  15. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Deep fry the rolls on medium flame until they are golden brown. Make sure to keep steering otherwise it will become too roasted.

  16. Potato Cheese Bread Roll

    Takeout bread rolls on a paper napkin to remove access oil.

    The potato cheese bread rolls are ready now for serving. Serve them with your favourite sides or sauces.
