This Dry Peas (Matar) Paneer recipe is probably one of the quickest recipe I have ever made. As you will see there are not much ingredients used but yet this Dry Matar Paneer recipe is mouth-watering and yummy.
Paneer is very popular in India and one of the most liked food by vegetarian people. Paneer is very rich source of protein and is a very good option for vegetarian people. Paneer is prepared by curdling whole milk. Just so if you don’t know, Paneer is also called Cottage Cheese.
This Matar Paneer recipe is very simple homemade recipe and not a restaurant style one. I would rather like to quote that I have never come across this style of Matar Paneer recipe in restaurants I have visited so far (may be because it’s too simple 😉).

A little not so interesting story – some time back when I was heading to my kitchen, I was in complete trouble because of no vegetables in my fridge and neither I had time to cook anything time consuming. I wanted something to carry with me and to cook something in just within 10-15 minutes as I was running very late on my schedule. The very few things I saw in the fridge were peas and packaged paneer (I do like to prepare paneer from milk on my own). So, this dry version of Matar Paneer came to existence and became one of the frequently cooked recipe 😀. I started keeping paneer and peas always at home knowing it will at least require once a week whenever I run out of time. Hence, it can save me having some junk food from outside.
This Peas Paneer recipe is perfect for lunch boxes, especially if you run out of time because it can be prepared just in 10 minutes.
Matar Paneer ki sabji can be served with phulkas, parathas, naan or tandoori roti. Even you can use this as a stuffing for sandwich.
For this style of Matar Paneer I have used frozen green peas or matar. You can also use fresh green peas instead of frozen green peas. However, the cooking time will slightly differ if you take fresh green peas as those will need more time to cook comparatively.
You can serve this Matar Paneer ki Sabji with phulke or parathas along with some raitas and salads to have a good tasty combination.
And if you love to prepare soft paneer at home, here is a super soft paneer which you can use for Matar Paneer ki Sabji recipe.
